The Makalu Base Camp Trek is a remote and adventurous Himalayan journey, leading you to the base of Mount Makalu (8,485 m). Traversing Makalu Barun National Park, trekkers experience diverse ecosystems, from lush subtropical forests to high alpine meadows, yak pastures, and glacial landscapes. The trek features stunning views of peaks like Makalu, Chamlang, Baruntse, and, on clear days, Everest and Lhotse. A spiritual highlight is the Shivadhara waterfall, a sacred site revered by local pilgrims.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

  • Transfer to hotel, trek briefing, permit check.

Day 2: Fly to Tumlingtar → Drive to Num (1,560 m)

  • Scenic morning flight (~50 min) to Tumlingtar.
  • 4–5 hr jeep ride to Num.
  • Overnight at local teahouse.

Day 3: Num → Seduwa (1,530 m | 5–6 hrs)

  • Steep descent to Arun River, cross suspension bridge.
  • Trek through forest to Seduwa; Makalu-Barun National Park permit checkpoint.
  • Overnight in Seduwa.

Day 4: Seduwa → Tashigaon (2,100 m | 4–5 hrs)

  • Gradual ascent through villages and forest to Tashigaon.
  • Overnight in Tashigaon.

  • Steep climb through rhododendron/oak forests to ridge-top with panoramic views.
